Remnant From The Ashes Announces its First Expansion and New Survival Mode

Last year the rather charming third-person souls like shooter Remnant From The Ashes came out for various platforms. Far from perfect, it was never the less a charming game whose developers continued to fine-tune and improve on its various mechanics while adding new content leading up to the game’s first DLC.

Remnant From The Ashes Swamps of Corsus

The Swamps of Corsus will focus on the Corsus level of the game. A swamp world technologically stunted following its absorption by the Iskal Parasites. A collective that invades world after world bringing them harmony at the expense of a little autonomy. Overall the original level was a good farming location but was rather underdeveloped and linear. An issue the expansion aims to rectify with a complete overhaul that will include new weapons, mods, and perks. Along with four new dungeons filled with new enemies and bosses.

Overall a solid expansion, that also comes with the additional new Survival mode, where players will start with nothing other than some primitive underwear and fight their way to earn new armor and skins that can be used in the main campaign. Do note the trailer showcases a Lara Croft lookalike, players will likely bring their own character into the mode rather than using a premade character.

The only disconcerting element of the expansion appears to be it taking the rather feminine Iskal Queen and transforming her into a more masculine form. Rounding out her face, reducing her bust size, fattening her legs and widening her waste.

With luck we are merely looking at a new character or boss, as it is hinted not all Iskal share the more “let them come in their own time” method the Queen used as she spread the Iskal through the region. Were it not for the industry’s obsessive compulsion to eliminate any and all femininity from games there would be little reason to even give it a second thought.

Come April 28th we’ll find out which is the case.
