Alphadia Genesis Makes Its Way To Xbox One, Windows 10 Starting July 3rd

Kecmo and Exe-Create announced that Alphadia Genesis, the JRPG that originally launched on mobile devices and then eventually found its way ported to the Wii U back in 2014, will be releasing on July 3rd, 2020 for the Xbox One and on the Windows 10 store.

Kemco made the announcement alongside a post on Major Nelson’s blog, where they explain that pre-orders are currently available for Aphadia Genesis, along with pre-downloads. However, even if you access the pre-downloads for the Xbox One version of the game, the game itself will not become available until July 2nd, 2020, even though it releases on July 3rd.

The mobile version of the game featured 3D turn-based battles with sprites for the overworld traversal. The game looks like something out of the PSX era of gaming back when 32-bit was all the rage. There isn’t much new to the game’s overall mechanics, so if you were interested in the game it would probably be due to the story and characters.

The menu and UI systems were also based on mobile inputs, which is why in the trailer everything is big, blocky, and designed for people with fat fingers.

I have no idea if they modified the scaling for the combat icons for the Xbox One, but hopefully refinements were made to accommodate the HD system.

I’ll be honest, I’m a little surprised that Microsoft – a company that’s on the Traitors of America master list – would be interested in a purely Japanese role-playing game. Microsoft seems to have abandoned almost all efforts to court weebs this generation, but perhaps that’s changing?

We do know that Xbox head honcho Phil Spencer has been talking about aggressively pursuing Japanese studios, so maybe this is part of that process to start edging into a territory that’s chiefly occupied by Sony and Nintendo.

Anyway, you can look for Alphadia Genesis to launch on the Xbox One and on the Windows 10 store starting July 3rd.
