Rumors for the next Resident Evil game have been swirling around the internet for some time. While most of them agree on some details, such as Ethan returning as the main character, hallucinations playing a considerable role in the game, and the setting being a remote mountain region, other details have been rather spurious.

Some have claimed Capcom — whose U.S., branch made it onto the Traitors of America list — plans to take the stoic male lead Chris Redfield and turn him evil for absolutely no reason. Others claim that he will only appear evil, but is in fact morally gray. One rumor claimed Redfield had snapped after the death of his sister driving him mad, but as a surprise to no one, Blue Umbrella isn’t as altruistic as they appear.

With no ability to verify the validity of these rumors and their untrustworthy origins, they have been worth noting, but not covering. As most of them will likely be proven fake upon the official announcement.

Adding validity to the more reliable rumors Biohazard Declassified was able to catch a listing for Resident Evil Village, the rumored title of the next release, on a german retailer before it was taken down. Biohazard Declassified was able to confirm the outlet is legitimate and has been around since 1997. Demonstrating at the very least, it is not a scam site looking to cash in on widespread internet rumors.

Does this listing mean the game has been confirmed? Not exactly. Retailers will frequently, when a high probability exists of a game being announced, put said game up for preorder ahead of the announcement. Gamestop often places placeholder listings in their system of expected popular announcements as to allow them to immediately begin taking preorders the moment the announcement comes. If and when the announcement is made in both circumstances, the listing is adjusted to properly contain all the relevant details for the title.

Alternatively, there is a chance Gamesonly, like many other major retailers, were given a heads up by Capcom of an incoming announcement. Then by a fluke, the listing went up before it was intended to. Whichever the case, maybe we will know for sure on June 10^th when Capcom makes a significant Resident Evil announcement.
