11 Bit Studios’ Frostpunk is receiving its latest expansion pack called On The Edge starting August 20th. The third and final expansion was originally announced at the end of July, with 11 Bit informing gamers that they were planning on releasing the game in August. With the latest gameplay reveal they confirmed that the release date for Frostpunk: On The Edge will be August 20th, 2020.
On August 12th the developers released a six minute gameplay walkthrough of On The Edge featuring senior lead designer Jakub Stokalski.
The video runs through the basic premise of the scenario, as well as the biggest change from the main game: there is no generator keeping your city warm.
You’ll have to scavenge for resources and find a new form of energy to generate heat.
The city of New London has an alternative setup for the Book of Laws, which is slightly altered from the way things work in the base game; and your main objective is to build up the settlement on the cliff’s edge in order to provide New London with supplies and resources.
Given that there’s no basic heat generation to rely on and resources are limited in the area, you will have to venture outside of the settlement to procure more resources and keep the settlement alive and fed.
The objective of the expansion is based around exploration and finding other settlements to trade with and build diplomatic relations with them in order to save New London.
Frostpunk is one of the few games out there that doesn’t delve into Left-wing propaganda and degeneracy. It’s a breath of fresh, cold air from all the other propaganda-laden games that have been released in the last half decade.
